I'm Dalarie - Atlanta real estate agent, Beltline lover, and your unofficial city guide. Everything in here is what I'd tell my best friend visiting for the first time.
Welcome to Atlanta.
Mercedes-Benz Stadium is one of only 16 venues in North America hosting the world's biggest sporting event. Atlanta drew the Semifinal - one of just two in the entire tournament.
Centennial Olympic Park hosts the official Fan Festival with live music, match broadcasts, food vendors, and cultural programming. Same park that welcomed the world in 1996. It's happening again. With performances from Atlanta icons like Ludacris, CeeLo Green, and Killer Mike - you won't want to miss this. Oh, and did we mention... IT'S FREE!?
Free - Registration Required · Centennial ParkJune 11 through July 19 - a 34-day free festival. Big Boi - Atlanta native and one half of the iconic duo Outkast - is kicking off the fest! Check the schedule to see who's performing each day. Music and soccer EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. FREE, PEOPLE!
LOCAL TIP: Take MARTA straight from Downtown to Decatur Station for only $2.50 each way.
Locals know this as Mercedes-Benz Stadium — but during FIFA it takes on a new name with the same game day energy Atlanta is known for. Atlanta Stadium is the finest multi-purpose stadium built this century. Fan-first pricing: $2 hot dogs, $5 beers. Two MARTA stations serve the stadium: SEC District Station and Vine City Station - both a short walk from the gate. Skip the rideshare. And if the weather is great, they'll have the roof open.
MARTA Vine City & SEC District Station · Short WalkAtlanta has always been bigger than the moment. This is the city that helped shape modern history through Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., then flipped the global culture switch through music, film, and sport.
The world took notice when Atlanta hosted the 1996 Summer Olympics. It's tuning back in now. Between matches, this city eats beautifully, drinks well, and shows you neighborhoods stitched together by the Atlanta Beltline - part art walk, part food crawl, part front-row seat to how Atlanta actually lives.
You'll come for the matches. You'll remember the meals, the music, the moments - and start thinking... I could live here.
The Eastside Trail gets packed fast. Go before 9 AM or go west - your call. And here's the thing nobody tells you: the Beltline is now fully connected. Start east, keep walking, and you'll end up on the Westside Trail without ever getting in a car. The whole thing is yours. Want food, drinks, and electric city energy? Stay east. Need to breathe, slow down, and actually hear yourself think? The Westside is calling. Either way - walk, bike, or scoot. Just go.
View Interactive Map →Download the MARTA app before you land. The train gets you to SEC District Station or Vine City Station - both a short walk from the gate - without the surge pricing nightmare. Yes, the station will be packed but you'll get on the train. Just $2.50 each way. If you drive, always look for parking signs AND PAY. Atlanta does not play - you don't want to be surprised with a ticket or a boot. Just pay.
It will feel hotter than the temperature says. Hydrate aggressively - don't forget to drink water! Start outdoor plans before 10 AM. Come alive again after 5 PM. That's how locals do it.
Spend the afternoon at Ponce City Market but don't waste your time circling the parking lot. Find a neighborhood side street and walk over - the Beltline gets you there for free. And when you see the food options and shops inside, you'll be glad you had an extra $20 in your pocket. PRO TIP: Head to the roof at sunset for an incredible view of the city.
Murals everywhere. Sculptures on the Beltline. Creators on every corner. Atlanta provides inspiration on every block. Don't put your phone away.
Okay real talk - Atlanta does not play about its wings. Lemon pepper wet or dry, this is the flavor of the city and missing it would be a crime. My recommendation? Go straight to The Local. It's THE spot. They sell out every single day and they are not making exceptions for late arrivals. Get there early. You'll thank me.
Ask someone for a restaurant recommendation and they'll give you their life story and three backup options. This is the South - home of Southern hospitality. It's genuine, it's warm, and it'll catch you off guard if you're not from here.
Brunch in Atlanta isn't always what you expect. You could walk into a beautiful patio brunch or a full club scene with music and hookah. Whatever you pick - just go with it. This is Atlanta. There's no wrong answer.
Download the MARTA app before you land. The Gold Line runs from Hartsfield-Jackson straight to the stadium. SEC District Station sits directly outside Mercedes-Benz Stadium - a 2-minute walk from the gate. Vine City Station works too. Either way: $2.50 flat. Skip the surge entirely.
